T-70 days: The Grand Prix Weekend

Posted on 29th September 2008, 4:34pm

The weekend has passed so quickly - much time was spent outdoors. Friday night was late - because of the business preview. We ended the preview at close to 10:30pm, and by the time I got home, it was almost midnight.

Saturday was a busy day out - in the morning (I woke late!) I spent time to deepen my understanding about the water filter system, and how to present all the facts and do the demonstration in a logical manner.

I learnt something about myself over this weekend - that I am someone who gets confident when I know my stuff. During the nuts and bolts on Saturday, I was able to present quite confidently, because I know I have done my rehearsals at home and I’m not afraid of questions.

Taking that forward and using it as a strength. I feel my strategy for success is to focus and go really deep, rather than know a little bit of everything. I think that this is important.

Saturday evening out was a short one - PX and I balloted for a home in the west area. Deep down inside, I know that this first flat we are getting is temporary one. We will get our dream home, so the focus is just to get a reasonable place for us to stay for the next few years. So I do hope we get the flat.

Then we went to watch the Grand Prix. It was an eye opening, ear deafening experience. More importantly, it marks another “first experience” between the two of us. :) It ended late on Saturday. By the time I got home, it was almost 1am. I stayed up late, and got up late again.

Sunday was quite a fulfilling day - in terms of spending time with my family. We had brunch together, got home, had some time by myself, then off we go again to the circuit to watch the exciting F1 finals. Its not a regular occasion where all of us in the family go out together and just did something together. Really enjoyed it.

Even though there was not much progress business-wise, I’m quite satisfied with the F1 Grand Prix weekend. Not because Fernando Alonso won (I don’t give a shit actually  ), but because the event gave us a reason to spend time together.

A weekend like this fuels my dreams - spending time with the important people in my life. I want to do things like this on a weekday. That’s why I will work hard.

70 days to go.
